Gaming mouse worthe buy - Specifcally for the avid gamer
In a nutshell, I certainly don't recommend this mouse to just anyone.
For everyday use if you like a good mouse, I recommend the Logitech M705.
However for a gamer who wants a very good mouse that does everything they want, including cusom keymapping and tracking anywhere (yes, even at your friends place with that annoying glass table), then this is the mouse. A little pricey, but if you're really wanting something great, then I know you'll budget for this.
There are of course drawbacks, but if you're not fussy about plugging in the mouse to the wall charger while you're sleeping at least once a week, then this is worth the buy.
I personally haven't experienced the click issue described by mightilybix below, but wouldn't rule it out as a possible set-back. I myself have had this mouse 2 years and have not experienced the clicking issue with extensive use.
Enjoy gaming!
STRENGTHS:
* Greate range
* Tracks on basically ANY surface (including glass)
* Battery can be left inside the mouse to charge and simply plug in the USB cable - i.e. no need for spare batteries
WEAKNESSES:
* A bit heavy
* Battery does not last long
BEST USES:
Gaming

Common Logitec issue also on this mouse
Initially I was very happy with this mouse.
However, after about a year of use I started noticing that the mouse sometimes registers a double click when I click only once. This is a real pain and becomes worse over time. It makes it really frustrating to drag and drop, resize windows or when you accidentally open a file instead of dragging it. This issue basically breaks the mouse (hence the really bad rating).
Apparently it is a common problem among Logitec mouses (I had the same issue on another expensive MX mouse). According to a Logitec engineer, there is a static charge that builds up on the mouse buttons.
There is a way to temporarily improve the situation:
1. Remove the battery from the mouse
2. frantically click all the buttons on the mouse for about a minute (also hold down the buttons for a while)
3. Put the battery back and use the mouse again
4. If it did not help, repeat the process until it does
Alternatively, get a new mouse. I recommend not buying this mouse...
WEAKNESSES:
Has a crippling issue with the mouse button after about a year of use
This is perfect
Coming from my previous Logitech MX Revolution, I wondered how they could improve. But Logitech brought ys another great product. I would highly recommend this comfortable feature-packed mouse.
STRENGTHS:
Darkfield laser, track on a billion surfaces
Range (10 metres through a wall)
Button mapping (assign anything to any button)
Comfort
No latency (I love gaming with this mouse)
WEAKNESSES:
Battery life (about 1-2 weeks of frequent use)
BEST USES:
Everyday mouse, gaming
