Garmin Live Traffic Service

Traffic coverage is currently limited to Gauteng, however the service will be expanded to other areas in due course.

To receive the Live Traffic Service in South Africa, the following is required:

• Traffic Receiver.
• Compatible Garmin GPS device with the latest software installed (see list below).
• The GPS unit must be installed with one of the following TMC compatible map sets:
• Garmap Southern Africa Streetmaps - NT
• Garmap Southern Africa TOPO & Rec - NT
• Garmap Southern Africa DEM (Digital Elevation Model) - NT

All Garmap Southern Africa map sets issued from the 2009 TMC 1st Edition onwards are compatible with the Live Traffic service. For the best navigation experience, we recommend upgrading to the latest map set.

Avoid Traffic Tie-ups

The GTM 21 is an integrated FM TMC (Traffic Message Channel) traffic receiver, antenna and cigarette lighter adapter. It receives digital information (where available) on traffic and road construction tie-ups and sends it to your Garmin device to offer an alternate route. TMC data gives prompt, accurate notification of accidents, road construction, police or emergency action, etc. — so you can visually monitor traffic flow and, if necessary, avoid traffic tie-ups.

Plug and Drive

The GTM 21 is a fully portable, plug-and-play design that uses a 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter. No professional installation required. Just use the suction cups to attach the antenna to your vehicle's windshield. Then plug the GTM 21 into your compatible Garmin device, and you're ready to receive data.
