Overview
APC Smart-UPS RT 8000. A UPS for high-density server rooms, that handle high-loads of data and need lots of power to provide a long enough buffer during a blackout for safe shut down and prevent the loss of data.Connect up to 9 servers using the standard power supply cables for full battery back up and power surge protection. The form factor of the UPS allows it to either stand alone or be rack mounted (with the addition of a rail kit, sold separately).
A fax/modem/DSL or 10/100 Base-T Ethernet line can also be run through the UPS, which protects the line from electromagnetic interference that could corrupt the data being sent or received and maintains a network connection even during a power out. This also guards against lightning surge for any device connected to the telephone line.
The UPS provides constant, stable power, unaffected by power disturbances, such as voltage sags and spikes. Output voltage distortion is kept below 3%. AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) ensures this when the mains is experiencing brownouts or overvoltage. The battery is a leakproof lead-acid battery and is also hot swappable. External battery packs can be connected to the UPS to extend runtime during power outages.
PowerChute Plus UPS management software is included with the Smart-UPS, allowing simple remote monitoring and supervision of the UPS. It safely and automatically shuts down connected servers and computers during a protracted blackout. This saves precious time and important data from being lost. With the software, administrators can also run diagnostics on the battery for faults and schedule regular automatic self-tests.
LED indicators show the status of various features of the UPS, including whether the unit is on, the computers are running on the battery, if the battery needs to be replaced, or if the UPS is being overloaded. Additional vertical LED graphs break down the current load on the battery and current battery charge. An alarm will sound when the battery is being used, which will change to indicate low battery power.
